Hello, and welcome to SpoonandSmile — a cozy corner where cooking for one or two is simple, satisfying, and fun.
I’m Jeanette, a retired grandmother (and proud great-grandmother!) who’s rediscovered the joy of cooking now that the house is a little quieter. After years of preparing meals for a big family, I found it surprisingly challenging to adjust to cooking for just myself and my husband. Portions, leftovers, and even motivation can be tricky when you’re cooking small — but with a little creativity, it can be rewarding, too.
That’s how SpoonandSmile began — as a way to share easy, affordable recipes that make cooking for one or two not only manageable but enjoyable. Here, you’ll find simple dishes made with everyday ingredients, practical tips for downsizing meals, and ideas that fit real life — whether you’re an empty nester, a couple, or just someone who loves good home cooking without the fuss.
When I’m not in the kitchen, I enjoy gardening, reading, and spending time with my growing family. Cooking has always been a way for me to show love and care — and now, it’s also my way to connect with others who are learning to do the same in this new season of life.
So grab a spoon, explore a few recipes, and smile — because cooking for one or two can be one of life’s sweetest joys.
